Description
There is a potential issue using current API / ACEA approved oils in high-performance cars, which
is worsened if they have been tuned for more power. Standard road oils are designed for long service intervals and have low emissions which they achieve by including extremely high levels of detergents at the cost of reduced anti-wear chemistry. Your performance modified engine wants the opposite.
Changing road oil sooner will help, but it doesn’t solve the issue of low anti-wear chemistry to begin with. Adding ZDDP additives to a high detergent oil doesn’t work, as the detergent will prevent the extra zinc from doing its job.
The Driven Street Performance oils solve this issue. They have much higher anti-wear chemistry at the expense of reduced detergent levels as they are not designed as long-life service oils.
All the Driven oils have been born out of years of race experience, so they are designed to be super strong and not to thin out even under the most extreme conditions.
You probably don’t put tyres designed for a family hatchback on your car, so why do the same
when it comes to engine oil?
Available in 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 5W-50, 15W-50 grades.
Make sure you have warmed up the engine so that the oil is warm before you drain it down. Top up with the right viscosity recommended by the manufacturer or your engine builder – Driven Street Performance is available as a 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40 or 15W-50 oil. Do not exceed 8,000 miles service intervals.
If used for racing or track days, change the oil if it starts to go black as that typically indicates that fuel has interacted with the oil. Although the Driven HR oils utilise more temperature-stable mPAO base oils, and a top-quality multigrade additive, the oil will start to thin down after several hours of racing. Although the level of thinning is much less than most other racing mineral oils, it’s important to keep an eye on oil pressures. For ultimate racing applications, please use the Driven XP range of oils.
The Street Performance range of oils are excellent storage oils as they contain specially developed additives against rust and corrosion typically caused by ethanol (from the fuel) and moisture.
These oils are good for up to 8,000 road miles, less if used on the track.
The Street Performance oils also have a unique anti-corrosion pack which protects engines that are not driven regularly, eliminating the damaging effects of dry starts and also coating the internals to prevent rust.
