Description
There is a potential issue using current API / ACEA approved oils in high performance cars, which
is worsened if they have been tuned for more power. Standard road oils are designed for long service intervals and have low emissions which they achieve by including extremely high levels of detergents at the cost of reduced anti-wear chemistry. Your performance modified engine wants the opposite.
Changing road oil sooner will help, but it doesn’t solve the issue of low anti-wear chemistry to begin with. Adding ZDDP additives to a high detergent oil doesn’t work, as the detergent will prevent the extra zinc from doing its job.
The Driven Street Performance oils solve this issue. They have much higher anti-wear chemistry at the expense of reduced detergent levels as they are not designed as long-life service oils.
All the Driven oils have been born out of years of race experience, so they are designed to be super strong and not to thin out even under the most extreme conditions.
You probably don’t put tyres designed for a family hatchback on your car, so why do the same
when it comes to engine oil?
Available in 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 5W-50, 15W-50 grades.
These oils are good for up to 8,000 road miles, less if used on the track.
The Street Performance oils also have a unique anti-corrosion pack which protects engines that are not driven regularly, eliminating the damaging effects of dry starts and also coating the internals to prevent rust.
Use the viscosity recommended by the manufacturer. However, we recommend the DT40 for BMW M-series which is thinner than what BMW recommends. This is based on extensive field testing and that unlike other synthetic oils the Driven Street Performance oils keeps its viscosity for longer.
